Happy Birthday Son!

Today is Donna's Memory Lane Monday and since it is the 28th of February my son's Clint's Birthday I wanted to do my Memory Lane Monday about the day he was born. The picture above is one of my favorites of Clint and I together. It is our dance on his wedding day.

All of you that know me know that the best thing I ever did in my life was to have my three children. I adore and love all three of them beyond any words I could put to paper.

Well thirty-eight  years ago today was at the time the second proudest day of my life. Hard to believe that Clint is 38 today. Let me tell you a little about the day this handsome young man was born.

About 11:30 PM on the 27th of February some friends of ours were leaving our home after playing a board game called Wahoo with us. We always had other couples over and played this game or card games. This night it was Jimmy and Cookie Loesch. They had only been married a short time and had no children but Jimmy adored the woman that his best friend had married and he kept watch over me like it was his child coming into the world. He called me every day asking if it were time for his God Child to be born. That night when they were leaving he hugged me and said, "I was praying you would of went into labor while I was here tonight!"

Well Jimmy missed his prayer by about thirty minutes. While putting on my nightgown for bed I got the worse back ache that I one could imagine. Of course, being young I had no idea that was the beginning of my labor pains. I laid down and knew within ten minutes that I was having a baby.

My husband called my mother to come over and watch our son Chad while he took me to the hospital. Lord it was the longest ride of my life and we only lived across town from the hospital. We were in his pick up truck instead of my car and I swear every bump he hit I just knew my baby was going to be born in a darn pick up truck. lol Of course I was screaming like a scared wild woman for him to drive faster.

He had no clue as to how serious I was but maybe he did because I do remember us running stop signs and speeding.

We drive up to the emergency entry and by then he is screaming. ha ha.....They brought a wheel chair and of course wanted me to sit in the hall and fill out paper work and answer their questions. God where was Ms Pearl when I needed her. I told whoever was admitting me there was no time for that to get my doctor there and get me to the delivery room.

No one listens to a pregnant woman and thought yeah they all say that when they come in. Finally somehow we got to a room and a nurse examiness me and tells me to relax because I have at least four or more hours to delivery. I told her that my baby was coming and to get the doctor. She refused to listen to me and forced me to get up out of the bed and sat on a commode since she had gave me the famous enema.

I remember so clearly to this day begging that nurse not to put me on that commode. She ignored my pleas and there I sat bigger than ever on a darn commode. Now I am thinking God it would of been better to have my baby in that ole pick up truck than in a commode.

Sitting alone in that bathroom I let out a sound from my throat that vibrated the walls of that hospital and my hubby ran into the room. I told him to get me up on the bed and quick. Thank God he listened to me because after he lifted me up off the commode and carried me to the bed I could feel the babies head pushing out.

He ran to hall way screaming almost as loud as I had just screamed but by the time he got someone to believe him that the baby was coming I had already had my precious Clint.

Thank God he did not let a little thing of being born without a doctor bother him. I lifted him up on my stomach and cried at how I had just brought into the world another beautiful baby boy.

The stupid nurse came in with a look of horror on her face and what did she do but call the doctor. They then wheeled me into the delivery room and before long the doctor and the aniesthesiologist were there with me and would you believe that the aniethesiologist tried to put me to sleep.

I kept trying to push the thing off my face and finally the doctor told him to leave me alone that if I could have a baby alone I did not need to be knocked out for the this...... haha.

Later the doctor came into my room wanting to know exactly what happened that he was not called in time and I told him exactly what happened. No one would listen to me.

Now I have nothing but so much happiness crowded  in these short thirty-eight years of my son Clint. (named after of course Clint Eastwood.)

No one could ask for a better Son, Husband, Father, Brother or Friend.
Thank you Sweet Jesus for giving me all of my children and for my memories!

Hope all of you have sweet memories today and will share them with Donna on her Memory Lane.

Love to all

I Wet My Bed!

Photobucket

Did I get your attention with the title of my post. Sorry I just wanted to talk to you this morning and what better way than to make you come by here and read about the ole woman who now wets her bed. hahaha

Seriously remember my faithful readers on the last post I had wrote about my dizzy cat that is high at night only. She lays around helpless and so sweet by day and then when I have read all I can before nodding off I will turn the lamp off and Tinkerbell gives me just enough time to be dreaming.

Then she jumps up on the bed and it is high off the floor so when she lands it is like a body has just flopped down beside me and never fells to scare the be jives out of me. So then I usually turn over and hide underneath the covers while she does her nightly ritual of dancing in circles on top of the bed. Sometimes she includes my body in this dance by stepping on me now and then. You know what it reminds me of. Remember that movie where all the ladies have formed a club what was it the YaYa club and then they dance around a fire out in their woods. All Tinkerbell is missing in this nightly ritual is a scarves to wave around.

OK back to last night....after her nightly ritual then I fall back a sleep and that is when she starts the forever all night sneaking up to me and finding my face and slapping me with her furry fat white paw. If I don't acknowledge the slap then she takes both paws and really drums away on me. If it is around 3:30am then I get up and feed her because she is still on the clock of when I left for work at the sheriff's office but if it is earlier then I know she just wants attention and some snuggle time which is okay but then once I fall a sleep she is at it again.

So remember on my last post I came up with the idea to go to bed with a spray bottle. Well I did and I felt guilty drifting off to sleep thinking I was going to spray the fat darling. I soon felt that paw slapping my face and I instantly thought of the bottle. I reached for it and when I did the lid was loose and the bottle dropped on the bed and of course you can guess what a wet mess and then I was a hot mess because my planned failed.

If I did not know better I would think my cat is smoking pot or doing some kind of drug because of her night time attics.

In between her slaps last night I had the weirdest dream. It was a dream like I have never experienced before at least I don't remember having one like this. It was about a young couple and I did not know them and it was weird some of the things these two did. Usually when you dream aren't you a part of it. It was like I was a fly on the wall watching this couple and their life. I have to tell you it was a weird feeling when I woke up and of course you know how I woke up. hahah

Today is my special grandson Bailey's Birthday! I can not believe that cutie pie is already 7. My plans were to surprise him today with a visit to his classroom and have lunch with him and of course take him his present but my rehab place did not like the idea of me playing hooking so here I am stuck here and missing Baileys Birthday but I am hoping over the weekend I can give him his birthday kiss.

Yesterday I could not walk without limping like I was a 106 but today I am getting around better. Go figure! I guess that is one reason they did not want me missing today was because I was not very good at my rehab yesterday. If they were grandparents they would of told me no problem see you Friday.

Maybe tomorrow I can do a post about Fainting Goats. I think that is what Gretchen is talking me into getting out here for the two of us.

Love to all

Chewing Gum Can Be Lethal!

Hello! How are you this week?

I hope all of you are getting some warmer weather like we are getting here in Texas. Busy week with rehab and some other pressing issues but all in all I am good. Have not run away with anyone or done anything I could not write on here so I guess Maggie is behaving.

Today I wanted to warn all of you that love their precious dogs. The picture above is Toby! He is the spoiled child of my daughter Christi. Christi has had Toby now for 13 or more years and they are attached at the hip. You get the picture. Some of us can relate to being that close to their pets. Since Christi is single and no children I know how much Toby means to her.  I still am mourning over the loss of my sweet Forrest who I lost on Jan 26th.

Last Friday night Christi phoned me about 11:00PM so I knew something was wrong when I answered the phone being it was that late in the evening. She was crying and explaining to me that she was in the emergency room with her Toby. They had gone over to her boyfriends to have dinner and visit with his sister who had flown in from Calif. Jason's sister had her suitcase open and inside were packages of Orbit gum. Toby being the nosy fella that he is went inside her suitcase and ate two whole packs of the chewing gum. Thank goodness Christi discovered it in time and knew how lethal gum was to animals and took him immediately to the emergency room.

It was a very long night for all of us because they were not sure they were going to be able and save Toby. They kept him for twenty-four hours on an IV and induced vomiting several times to get the poison out of his stomach. Toby came very close to loosing his life over chewing gum. I don't know about you but I just can not believe that it is lethal to dogs. I am just so glad that Christi knew this and took immediate action.

Shocking that little things like gum can kill! I know most of you have pets so in case you were not aware of this I just had to do this post and share it with you. Please let your friends know also how dangerous chewing gum is to dogs. Not sure if it has the same effect on other animals but not willing to find out.

If it is so toxic makes me wonder if I will ever chew gum again. lol....Also I could not believe that this Vet place in Austin charged over eight hundred dollars for this care and would not do the first thing for Toby until Christi gave them the money. How sad is that...aren't Vets doctors who should be more concerned about saving a life than money. It is all about money now.

So everyone keep your chewing gum where your babies can't reach it and also Christi said grapes and chocolate too were harmful to dogs.

I know one thing that is going to be harmful to my cat Tinkerbell and that is a spray bottle of water if she dosen't quit slapping me at night to wake me up. She sleeps during the day so at night she acts like she swallowed a whole bucket of cat nip and she dances on the bed and me. If that doesn't get my attention then she starts the paw slapping on my face. Scares the you know what out of me when a hairy something is slapping my face. Yesterday I thought I would do that to her during the day as a way to get even with her for doing it to me so when I caught her sleeping I would slip up to her and gently start slapping her face. Well I got by with it the first few times. Like they said third times a charm she jumped up and bit me three times on my arm before I knew she was even awake. Good gosh how would she feel if I did that to her hairy arm. So tonight under the covers and lying next to me is a pink water bottle. Just bring it on Tinkerbell.....lol

Sweet Dreams

Nora Ephron

Do you know Nora Ephron? She had a one woman show at the famous
Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas on February 10, 2011 Before the Show; Paramount Theater, Austin Texas Gretchen ask me to attend the show with her.

Nora Ephron is an established author so Gretchen and I both wanting to be near and around anyone creative we eagerly looked forward to her show. Honestly when Gretchen ask me if I wanted to see Nora Ephron speak I had to rack my brain on who she was and what she has written. Then Gretchen mentioned every one's favorite Sleepless in Seattle and When Harry Met Sally and then she had my attention.

The day of the show I googled Ms Ephron name to see what I could find out about her. Of course I was thrilled and impressed that she was a respected screenwriter and had been nominated three times for an academy award.

But.....................ten minutes into her show I was entertaining myself by looking at the magnificent theatre and how after a 100 years it was still beautiful. She disappointed me because everything she talked about was exactly what I had read when I googled her. You know how you get your expectations up and then their deflated just as quickly.

I was glad afterwards when Gretchen and I talked that she too was disappointed because I thought it was just me. We were expecting to hear more about her writing and maybe take notes but it was basically a woman standing there telling about her life and what she had accomplished all that I had read on the Internet.

One thing I found odd is she mentioned her two ex husbands by name and never once mentioned the man she was married to now. You know me I love to laugh and she did manage to get a few laughs from others but Gretchen and I barely smiled.

I think a woman of her talent and experience should consider what people have to pay to see her and she should make sure they get at least a portion of that back in entertainment.  Sorry Nora you are a very gifted lady but I think something was missing in your show. Not to say if any of you get the chance to see her don't let me persuade you not too because everyone is entertained differently. I think we were looking for more of the writing info than how many times she had married.

Sadly to say the woman sitting in front of us with her husband (I am assuming it was her husband) she kept us entertained to the point where Ms Pearl almost ask her to act her age and shut up. She was constantly hugging on her man, talking to him and when she was not doing that she would pick up her huge purse and go through it as if she were at home cleaning it out. On several occasion's she showed the man a bottle about the size of a baby food jar and I could not for the life of me see what was in it. At least in that hour of the show she showed him that bottle three times. What could have been in that bottle?

After the show Gretchen and I walked next door to a lovely little restaurant and that is where I enjoyed myself. We never not have a good time when we are together. She is such a beautiful young lady inside and out and also has starred in movies and is now doing screen plays while hiding out here at the ranch. One of these days when she comes out of hiding I can do a post just about her.

We were downtown Austin and after we had dinner we walked past the theatre again and then the building next to it is where Gretchen goes to acting classes. The building inside was beautiful just like the theatre. I have to tell you what happened when we were standing there looking in the big open doors and windows. Her acting teacher came out of a door upstairs and Gretchen flew to the end of the building where she could not be seen and was screaming for me to come on that her teacher was coming. Well you know me I knew that Gretchen has a school girl crush on him and I had to get a peep at what the man looked like so I am trying to get her to be quiet so I can stand there for a minute and see him.

He comes out on the upstairs balcony and he is looking down at me and I am doing a dance. Yes I did not realize at the time I was doing some kind of vaudeville dance for him but what was happening is Gretchen is freaking out like a funny teenager and I am moving back and forth towards her and then back to the position to where I can see him and it had to be really comical. Of course we did not laugh about it until the ride home. What Gretchen did not realize and could not see was he was just standing on the balcony looking down at this little ole lady doing a dance in front of his door and he is grinning from ear to ear. lol

Finally I gave into Gretchen's screams and went with her to the car. Now every time I see Gretchen she does the dance for me. hahahaha...She of course now realizes that she should of stood there with me and introduced him to me but it is cute to see a someone with a crush who can't think and just runs away.  I can just barely remember feeling like that but it was fun too.

Just last night Gretchen came over and we sat on the front porch and shared some wine and talked about her screen plays that she so desperately needs one done by March 10th...when she was leaving to go home I got my little dance from her.

Hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend! Our weather here is warming up but the wind is blowing like crazy. Can not complain at all because my toes are finally thawing out.

Almost forgot Gretchen ask me if she could get a goat to keep in her yard. She said she would put a collar on it and walk it around the property. How could I say no to the possibility of seeing that and sharing it with you!

Syb's Award to Me and OWOH Winners

Sybil over at Day In the Life of Sybs has so graciously picked me for an award and with it I have to disclose seven things about myself. I told her that this site is an open book so that would hard to do since you know everything about me already. Part of this was to pick others for this award and they tell seven things about themselves. Well Syb that is too hard to do because everyone one of you are too special to me to single out so feel free to grab this from me and tell the world seven things that you can share in public. lol

If you have not had the pleasure of visiting Syb's site I encourage you to do so. She is one those gals that when you get to know her you think you have known her all your life. I have so enjoyed getting to know her and you will too. Sybil lives in the most beautiful area of England and when I my back is well I am going to see her.

Some of my seven are answers to some of your questions about some recent post. So here goes my seven:

1. No I never told my mother the true reason the milk bottle was broken that day on the way to the store. A recent post I did about secrets.

2. No I don't use a vibrator and yes the doctor really ask me this question.

3. My first husband crushed  one of my big toes by  running over it with the vacuum cleaner and wrapping the toe around the beater bar. Yes I will do a post about that story one day.

4. I rode several times on the famous Salt Grass Trail Ride to Houston from Brenham, Texas when I owned horses and rode a lot. Yes it is true I was the only rider sober for the 6 day ride and never drank anything stronger than a Dr. Pepper. Would I do it now....NO!

5. Working for the prison system here in Texas I am not happy to admit I know at least 8 men and women who are now on death row. One I worked with at the prison and the others I knew them as inmates at the time for other offenses but ended up on death row.

6. I have completed two Officers Training Academies in my lifetime. The first when I was 40 years old and the last one when I was 56.  Would I do it again if given the chose...not in this lifetime. lol

7. In 2002 I was lucky enough to fly to Lake Michigan for the summer by way of a private jet. Would I  do this again Just Ask Me and my bags are packed. I stayed at Eppworth in Ludington, MI and loved it.

Thanks for letting me share these seven things with you. Hope I did not tell you something you already knew. If so you have to forgive me because I am old.

Now everyone loves a winner! So now that One World One Heart is over I have two winners. Out of 157 entries my first winner is the gifted Kim from Millie's Mats . Kim makes the most beautiful rugs. I would love to be able to do that and you can see her great pieces on her site.

I was surprised to see your number come up on the random generator but so happy it did. So just shoot me an email so I can get your winnings to you also.

Thank you so much for entering this OWOH giveaway. I never saw how many participated this year but I know it was over 800. Please stop by and congradulate these winners and get to know these beautiful ladies. You will love them as I do.

Also I have been lucky while doing this OWOH I have the privilege of getting to know new friends and their sites are just awesome so give them a visit too. I promise you will be glad you did.

So much I want to share with you but will do another post. Gretchen took me to see the screen writer Nora Ephron last week and wait til you here about that adventure. She is known for When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle.

Your comments are the highlight of my day. It is not I that is funny it is you! I laughed and laughed on these comments left on the previous post about the vibrator.

Many of you have ask about Gary and how he is doing after getting home from MD Anderson. He is slowly getting his voice back so now I can understand him on the phone. He still can not swallow anything but a little water but soon he hopes to be able to start eating again. I think because of all of your prayers and thoughts he is on the road to a full recovery. What a blessing you are in my life!

This week has flown by and not sure where it went. I do know it has warmed up here and for that I am so grateful. Wish I could box it up and send it to all of you.

Love to all

Do You Use A Vibrator?

Valentine Pictures, Images and Photos

Gosh it seems like forever since we visited! I know I am way behind with my visits and blogging. You would think that I could keep up better but something or someone will come along and take me away from you!

Not that distractions are bad because sometimes they are just what you might need for that day. So far no tall drink of water has come by though and distracted me but you know when that happens you will be the first to know.

Speaking of tall drinks of water it makes me think of my pain management doctor Ramon. Oh yeah he is a Ramon alright straight off the boat from Italy and if I were french I would say Oh la la ......

Well I had another visit with Ramon Friday and I woke up hurting so bad that I wanted to cancel because his office is an hour away from me. I went and I have to tell you I am sitting in the waiting room .....you know the lounge out from where you wait and wait for your name to be called. I guess that is why it is a waiting room. Anyway I sit down with the intent to breath and try to relax so I could maybe ease the headache that was really trying to ruin my day.

So I am sitting there all laid back ...well you know as much as you can in one of those waiting room chairs and this lady in a bright red work out suit and hair the color of a raven came and sat down in the chair next to me. Now that is okay but there were at least 30 other empty chairs so why the one next to me. She smiles this big big smile and says hello. I returned the greeting and went back to my meditation. hahaha

This lady immediately starting telling me her life story. I kid you not. I can tell you where she was born and raised. How many children she has and where they lived and how long she was married and the different states they have lived in. She even told me about them moving in with his Aunt and Uncle one time because they were very old and it drove her crazy even though they were the sweetest people in the world. Ms Raven hair then told me about how she had a nervous breakdown living with them but she was okay now.

I have not done this in a long time and I am sure it was Ms. Pearl trying so hard to come out but I would not let her but I let her visually come out. What I mean is she sat there a good thirty minutes listening to story after story from this lady and one time I was on top of her putting duct tape on her mouth. Another time I was running away from her and she was chasing me trying to keep talking. I think I even slapped her one time. hahaha...You get the picture....I eventually stopped listening to her and was visualizing ways to get her to shut up.  This poor lady even told me one time that her husband would embarrass her by talking about how much she talks.  I looked at her like WHAT why would he think that of you. Holly Molly give me a break. Then the lady finally calls Maggie and I almost ran to her in order to get out of the way of that woman.

Let me explain I talk a lot and am not proud of it but Jeeeeeezzzz Marie this was more that any one person could handle. So naturally by the time I got in to see Ramon I was a nervous wreck!

Ramon is explaining to me that he had not got the test work back on my last visit with another doctor so he could not really change too much today. Was I surprised? No! He did order me therapy again but not pool therapy. This will be out of the pool for five days a week. Problem with that is he wants it to be between 2 and 4 hours a day. It won't be me doing that many hours unless Ms Pearl thinks she can.

Then I sitting there thinking if Ramon was my instructor I might could make it longer than an hour and while I am visualizing that he said out of nowhere,"Do you use a vibrator?" I looked at him for a good minute before I said, "Excuse me what did you ask me?" Of course he repeated the question and I was sitting there thinking good God I just went through hell in the waiting room with some idiot and now this man is asking me if I use a vibrator. What the heck is going on here today. Silly me says, "How would that help my pain in my back?"

Ramon looks at me and finally said," A vibrator For your neck and back!"

"Of course,  I said, what other kind is there?"  I know my face was beet red and stupid me wanted to be back in the waiting room listening to the Raven Hair lady. lol

I should of said, "No I don't use one but please please Ramon ask the lady that is coming in here next if she does!" God I would of love to have been a fly on the wall for that answer from her.

Must go for now and catch up with life! Have a great rest of the weekend! Hopefully the sun is shining where you are and the snow is melting. What is going to happen to the South when all your snow melts will our rivers run over?

Don't forget the One World One Heart giveaway ends on the 17th so click my side bar to enter.

Loyalty

Could not let this day go by without showing you a picture of my Ma Ma. Ruby Duncan Gunnel's. She was born on February 9, 1909 with an identical twin sister. She lived to be 84 years old.

Like all grandchildren with their grandmothers I wanted her to live to be 100 years or more. I loved her more than anything and today she brings me such peace and love to my heart when I think of what she gave me during her lifetime.

Dan at Yesterday Once More word of the week is Loyalty. Of course I thought of my Mama first when I read this word. There was nothing in this world that she would not have done for me. She was only 4'11" but to me she was a giant of a woman.

She taught me loyalty, love, kindness, forgiveness, patience and strength.  I have never met anyone in my life that lived such a loving life towards everyone on earth. Even love for those that did not show her love. Only once did I hear her say anything ugly toward anyone and it involved me so I know now after being a grandmother why it came out of her mouth. I am sure she would of taken it back if she could have but me being me loved she said it and made me realize just how much this little lady meant to me.

An ex sister-in-law of mine married to my brother Gary was always trying her best to turn the family against me. Why I will never figure out but she was just that way. I had went to my Mama's house crying about the latest thing she had done and  I remember she was sitting in her little rocking chair looked up at me and said, "Did you beat the s... out of her!" Now I know she would not want me telling this about her but I have to tell you that coming out of her virgin mouth made me laugh hysterically. NEVER had anyone seen this side of her. Yep I guess deep deep down she had a Ms. Pearl in her but as far as I know it only came out one time. hahaha

Happy Birthday sweet MaMa I miss you terribly!

Another thing of course when I read the word Loyalty was all of you. My goodness look how you have stuck with me through thick and thin. I mean if that is not loyalty then what is? I love you for it too.

Below are pictures that I have received from several different people in emails about this Asian man I believe in California that has the most amazing yard. Today instead of deleting it I shared it with you because I thought it was another meaning of Loyalty. In order to have gardens like this you have to be loyal.

Hope you enjoyed these pictures especially in the bitter cold that we are still having all around the country. We need to keep remember that God has this kind of beauty in mind for us in just a few months.

Stay warm and keep being loyal to me........lol

Come Ride With Me!

Hello! Hope you had a wonderful fun and warm weekend! My Saturday was the best day because my son Clint brought the grand babies, his wife Andrea and my son Chad to see me. I don't know about them but I had the best time with all of them.

Can you tell by these pictures how much fun I was having!
I tried to write captions on the pictures. Did not work out where you can read them. Here I am telling Kaci to slow down. That girl has a heavy foot driving the mule around the North Forty! lol

Now sissy had to let brother Bailey drive and I am screaming Turn Turn! My heart was racing! Toooooo many trees for Bailey to hit.  Kaci told him one time "Oh Bailey you can do better than this....give it some gas!" OMG!

Here we have stopped at the house and it was like OH Wow what a Ride!

Gretchen my neighbor drove up while we were outside. They were trying to get their Uncle Chad to get Gretchen to go riding with them Or maybe this is where they were trying to sell Girl Scout cookies. lol

It was a Happy Day for me! All week I had been stuck in the house with the cold temps. I know I know not like you guys up north but in the teens it is cold on this North Forty. The wind blew forty miles and hour one day and the next it snowed. To all of you in the North it was a sprinkle but to us it was Snow. hahaha

Next day it was melting and around 60 so we enjoyed a little of the sunshine.

Kaci brought her school pet with her a small thing that looked like a mouse and her and Bailey loved trying to scare me with the darn thing. It's name was Theodore! Gray colored and looked just like a mouse. I screamed like a little girl when they handed it to me in it's play ball. Then Kaci undoes the lid on top of the ball. When it climbed out on the top I lost it and Bailey hit the floor in hysterical laughter and Kaci grabbed Theodore. Wish someone could of captured Bailey laughing on the floor.

Earlier in the day they took me to a new Mexican Restaurant for lunch. Wow it was great food and the entertainment of my family was of course the best part.

Uncle Chad was teasing Kaci about a boys and  Valentines Day and she simply told him "Enough!" and that was the end of that. Smart girl for 9 years old.

Bailey was sitting at one end of the table and his dad at the other end so they were teasing him the person that sat at the head of the table had to pay for every one's meal. He smiled and said, "I left my billfold and home!"  We can all learn a lot from these two.

Hope I am not in trouble for showing these pictures. I don't usually show pictures of my grandbabies on the internet but since these are not close up's I am hoping it is okay with their Mom and Dad.

All in all it was a day that kept me smiling long after they left. Kaci sold me six boxes of girl scout cookies and I am suppose to be loosing weight. Gretchen where are you? You have cookies to eat!

Speaking of Gretchen she is trying to finish a screen play about Texas. So for the last week we have been watching Lonesome Dove at different times since it is 4 different segments. Last night was the end and of course I was crying like a baby. Boy did she tease me about that.

We also had to see True Grit so she could take notes! I enjoyed True Grit....not quite the same without John Wayne but Jeff Bridges did a good job.

You would be proud of me too....I am on Chapter 4 with my writing but of course that is just the first draft and lots of rewriting. One of her director friends is coming at the end of the month from Los Angeles and she can not wait for me to meet him.

Hope you entered the One World One Heart Giveaway! I know your tired of my giveaways but I had to do this because it is the last year and I think it is so cool to meet people from all over the world.

Today I have to figure out how to get the water well fixed. Some of us have water and some don't. I guess you know by me playing on here who has it and who doesn't. lol

Enjoy your week! Try to stay warm.....just keep saying It is Almost Over....It is Almost Over....or just be miserable....no just teasing......I love to tease you....myself I am still hiding upstairs! Ghost or not!

One World One Heart 2011

Welcome to my site and to the famous One World One Heart 2011 Event sponsored by Lisa at A Whimsical Bohemian.
One World One Heart is a worldwide event. It gives all those who blog a chance to meet and mingle and form connections with those they may not have otherwise met from all over the world.  Lisa says to think of it as a GIGANTIC open house allowing you to travel without ever leaving your home........going from blog to blog(in various countries) seeing the wonder each one has created and meeting all the fabulous people behind all of these blogs. As a bonus each blogger who participates will offer up a "door prize or prizes"....just for dropping by, saying hello and seeing their world.
This event is the fifth and final year. It started January 31st and ends Feb 17th. Be sure and read all about this amazing event on Lisa;s site.
Also on her site you will find a list of all the participants. Last year I believe it was over a 1000. Not sure how many have entered this year.

Lisa ask that we introduce ourselves. So let me do that now. My name is Maggie so happy to meet you. My site is where friends come and gather to share their thoughts, hopes, prayers and dreams. We are just one big family that shares a lot of laughs and tears together.
I cherish each and everyone of my friends that come here!
Recently added a page to my site called Temptations which features artisans all over the world. I did this to help promote and support my friends and their art work.

Years ago before entering the field of Law Enforcement for over twenty years now I owned a small Ceramic Shop where I was never happier. Now I mainly write and my dream one day is to finish at least one of my adventures I have been writing and to have it published.

I am a born and bred Texan. Not sure if that is good or bad. We do tend to brag a lot but I try to keep it to a bare minimum. Most bragging these days are about my two grandchildren but I have to say God blessed me with the three best kids any mother could have ever hoped for. My granddaughter Kaci introduced me to blogging over a year ago and once I started my little online journal I have been lucky enough to form some really lovely friendships. Hope to get to know even more friends that are enjoying this event.

I am late entering  but having wanted to enter it last year and did not and now being the last year I just had to do it.

The OWOH giveaway is open to all worldwide bloggers, so leave a comment so I can visit your blog and have a way to contact you if you win one of my prizes.
I will announce the winners on 2/18/11  and I will post the winners on my blog.

Now for the door prizes I am offering for this event. The first prize is a Dream Journal that I put together last year before my accident. Have been wanting to do more of these but have not had the chance so this is my one and only one! The pages inside are muti colored and for you to scribble, write, doodle or draw.  The front has a little pocket with sequins inside and underneath it says....Dream Journal. Of course I had to tie the pages together with purple ribbon. Hope you like it.

This is the first page and the rest are blank colored papers.

Next I am offering a really pretty ornament that a friend of mine makes.

She is just precious and I did not capture the whole piece. Her skirt is long and she is darling. The one I have for myself I hang year round on one of my amoirs.

To win one of these all you need to do is leave a comment on this post only and you must leave me a way to contact you. OPEN to Everyone new and OLD friends! Don't be shy you can't win unless you enter.

Good luck to all and thanks for stopping by Just Between Me and You

Love to all

Courage

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Walt Disney

Brrrrrrr baby it is cold outside. What about you are you frozen yet. You would laugh if you saw what this ole grandma yellow hair looks like sitting here doing this post. I just went and put a scarf around my neck and a blanket on my legs. I look like I live in the North Pole. The news said it was 17 when I woke up this morning but I guessed around zero. lol

They are doing a Black out here about every two hours. Just when you get the house warm they turn the electricity off. I had no clue they were going to do this because I did not see it on the news. So when I woke up this morning during one of the black outs I thought my heating unit went out. Scared the you know what out of me.

I know you are thinking what a wienie she should come to my state. Would love to do that but it will probably not be in the winter.

Yesterday workers comp sent me to one of their doctors to evaluate me with some kind of fitness test. I drove to Bryan and the wind was blowing 40 miles and hour. Thought I was going to get pulled over for drinking and driving. Anyway this doctor was a patient man I ask him if he had read my post about patience. lol He had never heard of me. Go figure!

The test was over three hours and I told him there was no way I will be able to get out of bed tomorrow but I did and am not too bad but I am taking those pain pills. He did mention that my back and neck were not showing any improvement from the last test they administered to me. Not encouraging to say the least. He wants me to get into therapy and pronto. Also maybe consider surgery. Good gosh did I mess myself up when I fell.

Sheriff's office has been more than nice about me being off but their getting tired of it now so I look for something to happen with my job and in the near future. This doctor read my job description and did say I would never be able to do that again. Brought tears to my eyes thinking that I was not strong enough to do it any longer. Of course I really knew it before he told me. Just did not want to hear it I guess.

Anyway Dan at Yesterday Once More word this week is Courage. I was thinking he would choose frozen or rigid but I got it wrong this week.

Can not write these word post like our buddy Dan but here goes my thoughts on his word of the week.

Courage to me is:

1. Loosing a child and still able to function as a whole person. Our friend Marydon wrote a post about this the other day and it is a heart wrenching story you all need to read. My prayers to all of you who live without their babies.

2. Being a child like my granddaughter Kaci and my son Chad living with Juvenile Diabetes every day of their lives and never once complaining to anyone. That just amazes me the courage they have.

3. Fighting cancer or any other disease day in and day out. All the treatments, the doctor visits, getting sick and being afraid of what is happening to you. Bless all of you like JoJo who are going through this now. My daughter Christi who suffers with Fibromyalgia.

4. Saying NO to any kind of abuse. Especially physical abuse from a spouse. Those of you that make the decision to walk away and not take it any longer I admire you and wish you the best.

5. Being able to quit an addiction. Drugs, alcohol, smoking or eating are just a few. If I could only master this eating part.

6. Being a teacher, an officer of the law, fireman, doctors, nurses, caregivers and EMS workers. The list is long and I have left some off.

7. My son Clint and his wife Andrea for dealing day to day with Juvenile Diabetes and never ever complaining  but only seeking new ways to raise money for this cause.

8, Living a creative life! Choosing to sell your work and list it on your sites.

9. Writing your blogs. It does take courage to put the pen to the paper and undress your inner self in front of all of us.

10. Being a foster parent and loving those children who their parents have given them up. Mumsy of course comes to mind when I think of foster parents. I admire her so.

11. Going back to school for that degree that you never were able to get before.

12. Women and men who are divorced and raising their children alone. I know how much courage is involved there and my prayers to you for hanging in there.

13. For anyone who is going through the loss of their loved ones whether through death or divorce. They both are heart breaking but you manage to get up and make it through another day.

14. Admitting you were wrong and asking for forgiveness.

15. Using the word NO!

16. Loving your mother-in-law! Sometimes that takes a lot of courage but it makes your spouses so happy.

17. Living up North.....sorry I could not resist.

The list goes on and on. I may add to it every day when my brain warms up.

Thanks for always leaving me such wonderful comments. You always treat me like you really should...another thing I could not resist. Whats wrong with me. Guess I had better close before I really get goofy.

Oh I did update my Temptation page. You know I am not computer savvy so it is taking time but soon I may have the site the way I want it and this one too. Check it out and see if you like the new look. While your there check out all the sites that are listed. Also if you want to be listed on here just send me an email and I will be glad to add you.

Stay warm and join Dan on his word of the week

Love to all

Maggie
